The movie

Director Steven Spielberg 1997

Director Steven Spielberg takes us back to the scene of Jurassic Park in The Lost World, the blockbuster sequel with even more dinosaurs, more action, and more breathtaking visual effects than its record-breaking predecessor.

It has been four years since the disaster of Jurassic Park and two groups are in a race against time that will determine the fate of the remote island's prehistoric inhabitants.

The Book.

Author Michael Crichton

Hardcover Published in 1995, 393 Pages .

Paperback Published in 1996, 430 Pages.

Six years after the death of John Hammond and the mysterious destruction of his 'Jurassic Park' on Isla Nublar, mathematician Ian Malcolm discovers a second island off Costa Rica, where Hammond created his genetically-bred dinosaurs. He travels there with a scientific research team including paleobiologist Richard Levine, Sarah Harding, and two stowaway kids, Kelly and Arby, both 11 years old. Once on the island, they find themselves on the run for their lives from some of the Dinosaurs with whom Ian has already crossed paths, along with some new species. The group not only has to contend with the Dinosaurs, but with murderous rival scientist Lewis Dodgson and his cronies, who are out to steal the Dinosaur eggs and bring them back to the mainland.

As you can see there is a huge diffrence in the in both plots!

Read on for a small review of the book.

"The Lost World, Michael Crichton's sequel to Jurassic Park, was written fast anticipating a film. The original novel was written without any expectations of a film version, and that is what I believe makes it better. While many critics reviewed the film version of The Lost World as nothing more than an attempt by Steven Spielberg and Universal to make money and break box office records, I enjoyed the film, and I enjoyed this novel even more. The appearence of new dinosaurs, while bringing back old and familar characters like Malcolm, and the addition of new faces made this novel a thrilling publication. Over-all, I rate The Lost World with a 9/10, for the action-packed events and gripping writing."
